How breeding works in Palworld 1.0
A short, accurate guide to the Breeding Farm, how the game decides what hatches, and what passes down to the child. Numbers on this page come from the Palworld 1.0 game files.
What you need
- A Breeding Farm, unlocked at level 19.
- One male and one female Pal assigned to it.
- Cake in the farm's chest. Each egg uses one.
- An Egg Incubator to hatch the result.
How the child is chosen
- If both parents are the same species, the egg is that species.
- If the pair is one of the 136 special combos, the egg is that combo's Pal.
- Otherwise the game takes both breeding powers, adds them, adds one, divides by two and rounds down. The egg is the Pal with the closest breeding power, skipping Pals that only come from special combos. Ties go to the game's internal priority order.
That is why the calculator never guesses. It uses the game's own result for each of the 44,850 pairs.
Gender
Gender doesn't change the result except for one pair: a female Katress with a male Wixen hatches Katress Ignis, while a male Katress with a female Wixen hatches Wixen Noct.
Passive skills
The child copies between one and four skills from the parents' combined pool, then may roll extra random skills. The exact chances are on the passive skills page. Breeding for a perfect set is a numbers game: fewer unwanted skills on the parents means better odds.
IVs (talent stats)
Each egg inherits a number of IV stats from the parents: one stat 50% of the time, two stats 33%, all three 17%. The rest are random.
Planning a long chain
Rare Pals often need several generations. Add the Pals you own in Plan from my Pals and the calculator finds the fewest generations to your goal, using only Pals you have or breed along the way.
